Ten-year-old video shows Perrier water, not alcohol: Najam Sethi

ISLAMABAD—Journalist and analyst Najam Sethi on Tuesday clarified that a ten-year-old video that shows him carrying a bottle while inspecting a smashed windscreen of his car is not alcohol but “Perrier water.”

The video shared on X shows Sethi holding a bottle as he and journalist colleague Imtiaz Alam inspect the damaged vehicle. As Alam talks to somebody on the phone, the video repeatedly focuses on the bottle in Sethi’s hand.

“Some people are recycling a ten year old video that shows me holding a bottle of Perrier water. They seek to misinform and prejudice public against me by suggesting that I am doing something illegal. Shaam on them. This is Perrier water,” Sethi said on X. Along with his tweet, he also shared snaps of Perrier water bottles.

Commenting on the clarification, Mirza Shahzad Akbar, the former advisor to ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan, said even if Sethi has not clarified, “we know for certain that he only drinks soda water.”
